Job Description:
Manage the Clinical and Anatomic Pathology laboratories of a 200 bed hospital
Manage 60 FTEs with 5 direct reports in the roles of clinical manager, general support manager, Outreach Coordinator, Executive Assistant, Pathology Secretary and Pathology Support Secretary.
Strategic planning experience with ability to translate to department specific objectives for 1, 3 and 5 year projections
Experience in increasing and maintaining lab volume
Face to face contact with physicians and specialty areas; excellent interpersonal skills
Laboratory Information System management and oversight experience
Acquisition and implementation of lab equipment
Business acumen; ROI, business case; productivity analyses and justification
Process improvement experience; initiate, facilitate, implement and monitor through outcome results
Reports to the Vice President of Clinical Services
Primary responsibilities include participating in Baldrige, compliance, budgeting, personnel management, as well as developing and implementing high quality patient care services and ensuring the competency of the staff
Requirements:
Degree in Medical Technology, ASCP Certification or equivalent required.
Five years of general clinical laboratory management experience in the areas of Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Coagulation, Serology and Urinalysis preferred.
Complies with OSHA/VOSHA Universal Precautions, practices personal and hospital safety.
Frequent contact with lab/hospital personnel, physicians, vendors and service representatives.
Must demonstrate a helpful, polite attitude and face customer oriented approach to problem solving.
